Havant and East Hants Mind Wellbeing Centre
Alan Mak officially opened Havant and East Hants Mind’s Wellbeing Centre today where he was joined by the centre's users and representatives from a wide range of agencies including Andy Wilshire from Hampshire County Council who commissions the service from Mind and Barbara Rushton Clinical Chair of the South East Hants Clinical Commissioning Group.
Julie Parker, the charities CEO, explained that the Wellbeing Centre provides a programme of groups and activities as well as one to one work; all of which are aimed at teaching coping skills and techniques to help people manage and improve their mental health. Based in the centre of Leigh Park, with good public transport links, the centre serves the whole borough and has additional satellite services in Petersfield, Bordon and Alton.
Referrals are made to the centre by mental health teams and GPs but anyone who has a concern about their mental health is able to call in and self-refer.
Alan congratulated Mind on their work and stated how important good mental health was for a community.
