Mill Chase World Book Day

Staff and students at Mill Chase Academy were charity heroes in honour of World Book Day 2016!

World Book Day 2016 was celebrated on both Thursday 3rd and Monday 7th March at Mill Chase Academy. Thursday saw students acquire their World Book Day tokens which students in years 7 – 9 could exchange for one of the £1.00 texts thanks to Mr. Carney’s pop-Up Book shop; whilst older students in years 10 and 11 were encouraged to spend their token on valuable revision materials for their GCSE courses.

Monday 7th March was hotly anticipated and the students and staff did not disappoint as they donned the apparel of a hero or villain from literature. Students who opted for the fancy dress paid £1.00 which raised money for their house charities. There was a variety of costumes to be seen around the school.

All the schools houses raised money for a range of charities and we’d like to thank them all.  In particular we’d like to mention Yellow House who raised £65.90 for Havant and East Hants MIND. We are currently working with local communities and the many local schools to promote good mental health.
