“Outstanding commitment to social work students learning and development” at Havant and East Hants Mind.
Havant and East Hants Mind has been supporting and supervising student social workers for more than 20 years. In that time we have seen over 100 develop skills and experience invaluable for their career. So many have developed a real passion for working with and supporting people with mental health issues. In this month’s feedback from Portsmouth University who place their students at Havant Mind, they described the charity as…
“Outstanding in their commitment to social work students learning and development, and this was reflected in the midway reports. Each placement had values and ethics at the forefront and time was given for reflection, challenge and change, and most importantly the service user’s right to self-determination. It has been a refreshing experience to see social work at its best.
Student Social workers in their first, second or third years of their degree undertake practical 5 or 8 months placements at HEH Mind before they move on. Many are now working locally and call back to see us from time to time. For many it’s a placement that can really shape their direction and career and we are always sorry to see them leave. Our relationships with Universities are longstanding and look set to continue long into the future as does our commitment to providing quality placements.
