Blue Light Programme
We know that one in four people in the UK will experience a mental health problem in any given year. But our independent research shows that the estimated quarter of a million people who work and volunteer in the emergency services are even more at risk of experiencing a mental health problem than the general population, but are less likely to get support.
National Mind has been awarded LIBOR funding to develop the Blue Light Programme, to provide mental health support for emergency services staff and volunteers from police, fire, ambulance and search and rescue services across England. Havant and East Hampshire Mind will be delivering the programme across the Hampshire Blue Light Organisations beginning in September 2016.
Free Line Manager Training
As part of the programme Mind has developed a line manager training course on how to manage mental health in the workplace. We are offering the half-day masterclass Managing mental health at work free of charge to managers working in the emergency services. Our free training will be available to Blue Light services across England from September 2016.
Our experienced trainers will travel to your service to present our Blue Light research findings, share knowledge on mental health and how it’s affected by working in the emergency services; how to support colleagues, how to create mentally healthy workplaces and wellness action plans. The masterclass also explores handling disclosure and return to work.
