Hundreds raised by Alton College Students
An exhilarating circuit challenge helped students at Alton College Campus raise hundreds for mental health services during a recent fundraising event.
Public Service students from Alton College, alongside Sports Club Engagement and Community Fundraising Officer Lorna Howes from Havant and East Hants Mind, participated in a circuit challenge in order to raise funds for HEH Mind.
Lorna, who visited the College last year to speak to students on the importance of mental health whilst also assisting students with planning the event, was in attendance to support the students whilst participating in the challenge too.
Circuit Challenge
The fundraiser, which was held during Mental Health Awareness Week 2024, was an excellent opportunity for students to work together to plan and execute a fundraising event in aid of such an important charity.
Alongside fundraising, both Alton College and Havant and East Hants Mind regularly work together to support mental health, including Alton College students wearing the HEH Mind logo on the back of their t-shirts to showcase the importance of both Mind and mental health.
Lorna Howes, from Havant and East Hants Mind, added:
“I would like to say a massive thank you to all the students who took part in the circuit challenge. It was great to see you all working together, motivating and supporting one another and having fun whilst moving and exercising. It was really encouraging to see the group develop and share their understanding of how movement can support our mental health, all while raising an amazing £250. A big thank you also to lecturer Kirsty, because without her drive and determination our project this year would not have happened.”
