Mental Elf Festive Fun Run
Elves Needed!

Join us on Sunday 1st December, 9am at Staunton Country Park for festive frolics, Christmassy vibes and raising funds for a fantastic cause!

Mental Elf is a festive fun run of 5km around the beautiful Staunton Country Park – walk, jog, skip, push and dance your way around the 5km route! The event is open to all abilities and ages, as well as are furry doggie friends. However, children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

There is also a 2.5km festive family walk option as well, as we truly want to involve as many community members and supporters as possible.

The event highlights the need for better mental health support during the winter months, the importance of physical wellbeing to support your mental wellbeing, and to raise vital funds for Havant and East Hants Mind.

Course Description

We start and finish on the green space opposite the Regency Tearooms. The area will be set-up as a small Mental Elf Village, from here you will be able to collect your race number and check-in for the event.

The fun run will be a two-lap course around Staunton Country Park. This is a country park setting so the paths are not always paved and are liable to be muddy and uneven. Please take care when making your way around the route.

Facilities

We are delighted to be holding our event at Staunton Country Park, which has a wide range of facilities that will be available to event participants and spectators.

Toilets are available onsite and will be open all day (9.00 – 16.30). They are located next to the Regency Tearooms, which will also be open (10.00 – 16.00) and serving tea, coffee and food.

Parking is available on-site and is free for event participants.

There are children’s play areas onsite to keep little ones entertained.

Course Safety

The Mental Elf Run 2024 is a fun event organised by Havant and East Hants Mind. We wish to make the event as safe as possible, so participants, spectators and helpers are asked to take care about the following:

  • Please always be considerate to the park and other park users.
  • Children under the age of sixteen must be accompanied (within arm’s reach) throughout the event by a parent, guardian or appropriate adult of the parent’s choice.
  • Please arrive by foot, by pedal-power or by public transport if you can – your efforts help to reduce our impact on the park and the planet.
  • Take care on near roads and car parks – some vehicles drive very quickly. Please congregate away from the cars and be careful in particular if you have children. If you’re driving to the event, please drive carefully even if you’re late!
  • Take care on uneven surfaces – whether on grass or on tarmac. Watch out for cyclists, other participants, pedestrians, children, dogs, wildlife, park animals, vehicles, park maintenance work, falling branches, bollards, posts and other obstacles around the course.
  • Please ensure that you are fit enough to walk, jog, run 5k (3.1 miles) with us.
  • If you see someone with a serious problem, please stop to help them out and get help as soon as possible.
  • If you’re watching, keep clear of participants on the course, and look after any children and dogs you may have with you.
  • You are welcome to take part with one dog by your side, always within reach, on a short, handheld, non-extendable lead.
  • Runners pushing buggies are welcome, but please take care of others around you and do your best to start at an appropriate place in the field for your pace.

We hope these tips help to ensure that the Mental Elf Run 2024 is fun and safe for everyone.
