HSDC Passing Out Parade

Joining HSDC Passing Out Parade to Celebrate Public Services Students

Havant and East Hants Mind (HEH Mind) proudly supported and attended the Havant and South Downs College (HSDC) passing out parade for Public Services students on Wednesday 19th June 2024. This event marked the culmination of a year-long journey for the students, who have shown remarkable dedication and commitment to their studies and community service.

In a powerful display of solidarity, students wore t-shirts adorned with the HEH Mind logo, symbolising their support for the local charity; who provide free, accessible wellbeing and crisis services that support mental health across South and East Hampshire.

Lorna Howes, Sports Engagement and Community Fundraiser from HEH Mind, attended the parade as a VIP. Lorna participated in the inspection and engaged with students, listening to their reflections on the course and their aspirations for the future. These interactions underscored the importance of mental health awareness for all students looking to progress into any sectors, but especially within public services.

Throughout the year, the Public Services students have been active advocates for HEH Mind, organising various fundraising and awareness raising activities. These efforts have not only supported HEH Mind’s mission but also fostered a deeper understanding of mental health issues among the students and their peers.

Lorna expressed her gratitude, saying, “It’s inspiring to see the next generation of public service professionals prioritising mental health. Their support for HEH Mind highlights the importance of community collaborations, partnerships and the positive impact we can have when we work together.

HEH Mind looks forward to continuing its partnership with HSDC and supporting the mental wellbeing of students and the wider community.
