Local Artist Brings Joy and Community Spirit with Painted Rocks

Local resident Brooke is combining creativity and community wellbeing with a unique art project that invites everyone to join in the fun. Brooke has been painting a series of beautiful, one-of-a-kind designs on rocks sourced from the Gosport area. These rocks, decorated with thoughtful and eye-catching artwork, are being shared across the local community in the hope of spreading joy, connection, and a sense of adventure.

The rocks can be discovered by following photo clues posted on Brooke’s Instagram account, @GosportRocks. Each photo gives a hint about the rock’s location, sparking a scavenger hunt for residents and visitors alike. Once you find a rock, you’re encouraged to take it with you and hide it somewhere new for someone else to find. Snap a photo of the rock’s new hiding spot and share it with @GosportRocks – your photo could inspire the next lucky finder.
Brooke hopes this project will bring people together and provide a little light-hearted fun, particularly during these challenging times. “The hope is that people will hunt down the rock using the photo, take it, and then hide it somewhere else. It’s a simple way to add a bit of surprise and delight to someone’s day,” Brooke said. “It’s a fun, free activity you can enjoy with family and friends, while also spreading a sense of positivity and creativity throughout Gosport and beyond.
To start, the rocks will be placed around Gosport and its surrounding areas, but who knows where they may travel? The joy of the project is that there’s no limit to how far these painted rocks might go.

The initiative is not only a great way to connect with your local community, but it also promotes wellbeing by encouraging people to explore their surroundings and engage in a bit of outdoor fun. So, grab your walking shoes, follow @GosportRocks, and start your rock-hunting adventure today. Happy rock hunting! 🪨
