Mental Elf 2024
The fun-filled event raised awareness and funds for local, free-to-access wellbeing and crisis services delivered by HEH Mind, while promoting mental health support within the community. Participants of all ages and abilities joined together for a festive 5K run, donning their best elf costumes and spreading holiday cheer (in slightly wet conditions) while supporting an important cause. The event successfully brought together families, friends, colleagues, and mental health advocates to celebrate the festive season and support the local mental health charity.
The Mental Elf Run is a new initiative for HEH Mind, made possible thanks to collaborations with the Mind network and Lancashire Mind (the original creators of this event). “We are incredibly proud to have hosted our first-ever Mental Elf Run at Staunton Country Park,” said Emma Strong, Fundraising Lead at HEH Mind. “Events like this help us raise vital funds that enable us to continue providing free, accessible services that support individuals’ mental health and wellbeing. It’s fantastic to see such a strong turnout. We hope this event could become an annual celebration and fundraiser in future.”
The funds raised from the event will go directly to HEH Mind’s local free to access services; which include crisis support, and wellbeing workshops. This is a crucial part of the effort to ensure mental health support is available to everyone, regardless of their financial circumstances.
“We are grateful to Lancashire Mind and the wider Mind network for their support in bringing this event to life,” added Jody Phelvin Co-CEO at HEH Mind. “The Mental Elf Run is a reminder that mental health is just as important as physical health, and it is vital that we continue to break down the stigma and ensure people have access to the help they need.”
HEH Mind extends its thanks to everyone who participated, volunteered, and donated to make the event a success. Together, they have made a significant impact in supporting local mental health services and creating a more inclusive, supportive community.
