Young People Thrive Through Music

Our Young People’s Team at HEH Mind were thrilled to welcome The Mavericks (facilitated by Music Fusion), to our Young Person’s Lighthouse, a safe and creative space for young people.

Over the course of six weeks, The Mavericks conducted a series of engaging workshops where young people discussed issues important to them, collaborated, and expressed themselves through music. During these transformative sessions, participants had the unique opportunity to write and record two original tracks. The result of their hard work and creativity is now available for everyone to enjoy. The first track, “Rumours,” is released today (Friday 14th June 2024) across all streaming platforms (listen on Spotify now).

We are incredibly proud of the young people who participated in these workshops. Their dedication and passion are evident in the music they created,” said Annie Knight, Contracts Lead (Children and Young People) at HEH Mind. “We are also deeply grateful to the entire Mavericks Team and everyone involved in supporting this project.

The Mavericks not only facilitated these workshops but also invited the young artists to their studio to record the tracks, providing them with a professional and immersive experience in the music industry. This collaboration has empowered young people to voice their thoughts and feelings, fostering a sense of community and self-confidence. To get a glimpse of this inspiring journey, check out the video from our time at the Lighthouse.

The Lighthouse service includes supported activities, games, crafts, wellbeing focused workshops, refreshments, cooking sessions, 1 to 1 and peer support, signposting.  No referral is needed to access the Lighthouse, it is a drop in youth-club style service. Which is for children and young people aged 10 to 17 years old with a mental health and wellbeing focus. This fun, safe and supported environment is facilitated by Mental Health Practitioners and Youth Workers from HEH Mind and Motiv8.
