Why did you apply for a volunteer role with HEH Mind? 

  • “I applied to volunteer with HEH Mind because one of my parents’ closest friends was a Trustee, so I knew the work the charity did was meaningful and I wanted to be involved in some way. I also wanted to gain some experience in the charity sector as I thought this would be a sector I would be interested in for future job prospects and I wanted to gain an understanding of the sector.”

What was your experience like? Were there things you found particularly enjoyable or beneficial?

  • “My experience was really great. I gained experience in communications, fundraising, and events. I found the running events particularly enjoyable, the Brutal Run at Hogmoor being a highlight (despite how it may have seemed on the day!)”

How did your volunteer experience support your application for paid roles/ your current role?

  • “I spoke vastly about my time at HEH Mind when applying for my current role. My experience gained with social media, producing the monthly newsletter, what I learned about event organisation, and the admin skills I learnt were all things I was able to speak about when applying for jobs and so it was highly beneficial.”

Would you recommend volunteering at HEH Mind / with the Community Team?

  • “I would (and have) recommend volunteering at HEH Mind- the Community team was so welcoming and I absolutely loved my time at the charity.”

Are there any other comments you would like to make? 

  • “Just a big thank you again!”
